Join us on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 7:00 pm when SVHS welcomes Child Health Association for "A Recipe for Giving -- 100 Years of the Child Health Association and the 50th Anniversary of the Three Rivers Cookbook."
For 100 years, the Child Health Association [CHA] of Sewickley has been a volunteer non-profit women’s organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children in western Pennsylvania. Founded in 1923 by four visionary women to provide milk to undernourished children, over 1,500 extraordinary women have expanded that vision through the years and exceeded all expectations of what a small group of women can do.
While its mission has remained the same for the past 100 years, giving has expanded to further their reach. Each year, they welcome nonprofits across Western Pennsylvania working directly with children to apply for their grants. Over the past 75 years, CHA has given to nearly 400 different qualified non-profits.
As CHA celebrates its centennial, they also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Three Rivers Cookbook, Volume 1 -- a cherished staple in households across our region. The success of Three Rivers Cookbooks I, II, III, and Renaissance IV, along with CHA’s biannual Sewickley House Tour and biannual Ball and Play fundraisers, has enabled CHA to give over $5 million in grants.
Join SVHS on Thursday, September 28 when we welcome CHA and its panel of past and current members to discuss the mission of Child Health Association of Sewickley, their history of volunteering and giving, and how the cookbooks have helped CHA achieve its missions.
We will welcome attendees both in person at the Old Sewickley Post Office (OSPO) Community Room and on Zoom for our first lecture series program of the season on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, at 7:00pm.
