About This Event

Sewickley Antique Appraisal and Donation Day!

Sewickley Valley Historical Society

Saturday, April 20, 2024

From 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Sewickley Valley Historical Society [SVHS] welcomes visitors to join them at the Old Sewickley Post Office Building (OSPOB) 200 Broad Street, Sewickley, PA 15143 to:

What is your item worth? Get an Appraisal: SVHS will welcome professional antique appraisers --including Sewickley Valley’s own John Kroeck-- and invites guests to have items from their personal collections appraised. For a suggested donation that will directly support SVHS, attendees are invited to bring 1- 3 items to be appraised in a small-scale, hometown version of “Antiques Roadshow.” Suggested donation for one item is $10 and $20 for up to three items. Please note – appraisals are for personal use and reference. Written appraisals can be provided upon request with suggested donation. Items appraised at the event are not eligible for immediate donation to SVHS.

Donate: Members of the community are encouraged to bring items related to the history of the Sewickley Valley to donate to SVHS for inclusion in its collection and archives. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to evaluate and process the donations and prepare them for possible accession into the Collections at SVHS. Post-WWII materials encouraged! Help us bring our collection up to the 21st century – your stories are Sewickley Valley History! Help us to preserve them by bringing items to donate on April 20, 2024. Examples of items we accept include but are not limited to yearbooks, school photos, letters, maps, blueprints, journals, scrapbooks, ledgers, books, miscellaneous items, promotional items from local businesses, postcards, family photos, etc. pertaining to the eleven boroughs and townships that make up the Quaker Valley School District and the people who have lived and worked there.

Explore: The SVHS reading room and the Old Sewickley Post Office Building. Both will be open to visitors with select pieces from the Collections at SVHS on display. SVHS merchandise and local history books will be available for purchase.
